The Zone Weekly with paraDocs

As Covid cases rise in in many states across the US, questions about our future linger. Will schools open in the Fall? Are my loved ones safe? Will we ever go back to any semblance of normal? While the future is a question mark, one thing is certain – we are navigating unchartered waters. This calls for a new vision of how we show up in the world.

In Volume 16 of this guest series, Psychotherapist, Dr. Francis L. Battisti and Nutritionist, Dr. Helen Battisti remind us that it’s our interconnectedness that helps us find balance and grace, even in the most unstable of times.

For over 10 years, they have worked closely with us on aging concerns and have presented many webinars and in-person workshops. Their newsletter, The Zone, is a weekly mental health and nutrition tip sheet during times of change.

From the outside looking in, some events can appear chaotic. However, from the inside looking out, there is often a rhythm and system to these same events. In other words, the theory of chaos is the apparent randomness of a chaotic complex system while there are underlying patterns and interconnectedness that keep the system moving. Much like the juggler, who appears to keep multiple balls in the air at the same time, it may all seem chaotic and random. For the juggler, there is a perfect balance within the rhythm of the system. This perfect balance can easily be thrown off when the juggler loses the focus of his/her task.

With the many challenges that we, as a world and as individuals are juggling, quality relationships are essential to maintaining our balance and focus. Some of these relationships can include family members, friends, associates, spiritual beliefs, one’s self, mankind and the environment. The quality of these relationships can help us in maintain the delicate balance of chaos without becoming chaotic.

Quote of the Week

“Comedy isn’t necessarily all dialogue. Think of *Buster Keaton: the poker face and all this chaos going on all around him. Sometimes it’s a question of timing, of the proper rhythm.” – Clint Eastwood

* Buster Keaton was an American actor, comedian, film director, producer, screenwriter, and stunt performer of the first half of the 20th Century
