This October, we will live-stream our long-term care conference as webinars for distant viewing. This year we will only be offering seven webinars. On Monday, October 7th, we will offer THREE webinars on palliative care presented by End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) faculty, Betty Ferrell and Pam Malloy. On Tuesday, October 8th,we will offer FOUR webinars that will cover operational, advocacy and trending long-term care issues, such as dementia and ageism.

Participants may be eligible to receive continuing education units (CEUS) based on webinar completion. Each webinar overview lists the up-to-date credit information for Administrators, Nurses, Social Workers, Dietitians, Recreational Therapists, and Catholic Chaplains.

Please note that the webinars are completely automated. Every requirement for continuing education is online within the webinar product. Every registrant seeking CEUs must have their own account in our learning management system (Elevate) to access the webinar. Registrants seeking CEUs will also be asked to pass a post-test to verify attendance and complete an evaluation. Certificates of attendance can be claimed online and printed after all requirements have been completed.

This session will provide information and potential action items regarding survey and certification protocol and requirements, including recent changes and proposed changes.  CMS and state agencies frequently re-adjust their focus regarding procedures and processes for surveys.  The Office of Inspector General annual work plan provides information on current focuses and understanding the importance of compliance with requirements is imperative for good leaders.  Also, discussion will include other hot topics for nursing facilities.

Janet Feldkamp, RN, BSN, LNHA, CHC, JD Partner, Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, LLP

Ms. Feldkamp focuses her practice in the area of health care law, including long-term care survey and certification, state and federal regulation, physician and nurse practice, and fraud and abuse involving hospitals, suppliers, insurers and physicians. She retains active licenses as a registered nurse and a nursing home administrator and has extensive health care experience. Ms. Feldkamp is a member of the editorial advisory board of Caring for the Ages, a monthly newspaper for long term care practitioners. She has been a frequent speaker on health law related topics, particularly in the area of long term care. Ms. Feldkamp is also a coauthor of the Post-Acute Care Handbook: Regulatory, Risk & Compliance Issues, 2015, published by the American Health Lawyers Association.

Credit Information

To obtain continuing education credit, participants must watch the live webinar in full, pass a post-test to verify attendance, and complete an evaluation.

No partial credit is to be given if any time is missed during an individual webinar being streamed from the conference, "Integrating Palliative Care in Continuum of Care Operations." Extenuating circumstances may be considered by discussing the reasoning behind missing the time and determining if credits can be offered an alternative way.
