    Music has a power unlike anything else to soothe, increase a sense of well-being, alter mood, delay dementia, and relieve depression. For memory-impaired residents, music can be an invaluable tool for improving life and making everyday activities less stressful for both the resident and the caregiver. After this in-service, caregivers will be equipped to use music as part of their everyday routine, leading to more peaceful and naturally content residents. This in-service teaches caregivers the following:

    • Common-sense and creative ways to use music every day
    • What music is and what it does to our brains scientifically
    • Types of music appropriate for different settings
    • Determining age-appropriate music for residents
    • Appropriate volume for elderly residents
    • How to alleviate over- or under-stimulation with music
