In-Service Topic "Managing Behavior"
By managing difficult behaviors, caretakers can help to greatly reduce the need for the number and amount of medications a resident takes. In order to succeed at reducing behaviors, caretakers are taught the “ABC” method. This method identifies activators (“A”) of the behavior, the behavior itself (“B"), and the consequence following the behavior (“C”). Once behaviors are reduced using the ABC method, there will be a sense of peace in the entire home that makes caregivers’ jobs less stressful and helps residents enjoy their lives more.
